Beschrijving
Woodcut in black on Japanese paper, signed, numbered and dated 'Carel Visser 146/190 '67' (upper right), published by Prent 190, Utrecht. Small tear and hole to the lower right edge (image not affected), sl. creased as usual, unobtrusive vague waterstain along the left edge. With the original publisher's brochure.
Provenance: Private collection; acquired directly from the publisher, 1967. Notes: From the mid 50s till late 60s Carel Visser was preoccupied with constructing abstract, geometric iron sculptures in his search for balance, symmetry and perfect form. Iron beams and plates were piled on top of each other in such a way that their weight is evenly distributed and balance, which seemed impossible, is reached. In the prints and drawings of this period the artist further investigated this method.
