Indian ink and watercolour on paper, monogrammed and dated 'JJS '40' (lower right); framed under passe-partout behind glass. Unexamined out of the frame, one superficial loss of paper at the right edge, else apparently in the original condition. Provenance: Private collection; Simonis & Buunk, Ede. Notes: Rare early work by the artist. In the 1940s Jan Schoonhoven created mainly watercolours and ink drawings influenced by Paul Klee, Picasso and Matisse.
