Dark brown patinated bronze on a marble base with a nameplate, a study for the statue in Kenaupark, Haarlem. Base sl. worn, sculpture sl. loosening from the base, overall in good condition.
Height incl. base. Provenance: Private collection since c. 1982. Notes: This sculpture commemorates the Dutch resistance fighter Hannie Schaft (1920 - 1945), who was executed during the Second World War in 1945. She was a comrade of Truus Menger, who was also a member of the Council of Resistance (Raad van Verzet) and a war heroine. The monument in Haarlem, which the work offered here is a study for, was unveiled by Princess Juliana in 1982.
