Note:
In 1989, Piet Killaars was commissioned to design the entrance doors for the Saint Servatius Basilica. In 1990, this ‘Servaas Door’ was installed in the Southeast Portal, consisting of two bronze doors and a bronze tympanum. The design and execution took over a year. On the doors, Killaars depicted the human journey through life, flanked by waves and emerging from the water, with two door handles shaped like fish, symbolising baptised people. Killaars also designed the relief on the tympanum, which features the coat of arms of the Chapter of St Servatius.
