Green patinated bronze with integral base and nine little drawers (including eight removable), signed 'Salvador Dalí' (on the front of the base), numbered, dated '1988', marked 'VF' ('Vert Florentin' patina) and 'DEMART' (authorised by Demart Pro Arte), and stamped with the foundry mark 'VALSUANI' (on the base), cast by the Airaindor Valsuani foundry, Chevreuse and published by Artco France, Paris. Edges of drawers rubbed with some loss of patina, several small scratches, otherwise in good condition. With a certificate of authenticity issued by Artco France, Paris.
Literature: Descharnes, R & N. Dalí: Sculptures & Objets. Le Dur et Le Mou. Eccart, 2003, p. 36 & 37. Notes: A smaller bronze version of the anthropomorphic cabinet sculpture - 'Venus de Milo with Drawers' from 1936 by Dalí (Musée de Louvre, Paris). The drawers added to the sculpture of the goddess of love served as a metaphor of subconscious mind - the most suppressed and instinctive desires and fears.
